Tadalafil is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). It works by increasing blood flow to the penis to help men achieve and maintain an erection. Tadalafil belongs to the phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE 5) group of drugs. It works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, thereby increasing blood flow to the penis and causing an erection.
There are various treatments for ED, including medications, lifestyle changes, and surgical treatments. ED medications include sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), and vardenafil (Levitra). Tadalafil is available as an oral tablet and capsules, and as a orally disintegrating oral tablet.
Surgical treatments for ED include penile implants, prosthetic devices, and other forms of ED treatment. ED prosthetics are used tohetics devices that deliver a strain on the penis, thus allowing for an erection during sexual stimulation. Other ED treatment options include penile prosthetics, penile prosthetic surgery, and penile prosthetic devices.
Tadalafil is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) inhibitor. Tadalafil has been used for over two decades and is the only PDE-5 inhibitor approved for the treatment of ED.

The dosage of Tadalafil for ED varies depending on the individual and the underlying cause of ED. The initial dose is usually 50 mg taken about 1 hour before sexual activity.
The duration of treatment may be for about 6 to 12 hours. Depending on how well Tadalafil works for you, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 100 mg. It is important not to take Tadalafil more than once in a 24-hour period.
The side effects of Tadalafil may include headache, flushing, and indigestion. They may also go away on their own after you stop taking the medication.
PAH is a condition that affects the arteries in the lungs. It happens when a blood vessels in the lungs relax, allowing for easy breathing and coughing. PAH can cause dizziness, drowsiness, and a fast heartbeat.
Whether you can take Tadalafil at the same time as your other medications will depend on which medications you are taking.
You are required to complete a short medical consultation questionnaire that asks for any medications that you are prescribed from your GP and will indicate the medications that can’t be taken alongside Tadalafil.
There are several medicines which should not be taken concurrently with Tadalafil. Medicines which can have potentially serious interactions with Tadalafil include :-
• Any alpha-blocker medicines e.g. doxazosin (Cardura), alfuzosin (Xatral), tamsulosin, terazosin, or Flomax, that you can buy in the pharmacy. (These medicines may be used to treat prostate problems or high blood pressure).
• Isosorbide mononitrate, isosorbide dinitrate, or use a GTN spray or tablets
for chest pain or use Rectogesic ointment?
• Nicorandil (Ikorel), used to treat angina
• Cimetidine, used to treat stomach or duodenal (peptic) ulcers
• Theophylline, used to treat asthma
• Antibiotics:- Clarithromycin, Erythromycin and Telithromycin
• Anti-fungals such as itraconazole and ketoconazole
• Seizure medication:- carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin and primidone
• Heart or blood pressure medication:- disopyramide, amiodarone, quinidine and procainamide
• Anti-viral medication:- telaprevir, atazanavir, retonavir, indinavir, saquinavir and cobicistat
• Recreational drugs:- amyl nitrate (poppers)
